Main Street Capital Holdings Announces Sale of W&W Dairy

Successful Investment in a Leading Producer of Hispanic Cheeses that Significantly Expanded Manufacturing Capabilities and Experienced Substantial Growth

August 1, 2025 – Main Street Capital Holdings, LLC, a private investment firm specializing in acquisitions of growth-oriented companies, announced that it has sold W&W Dairy, LLC to Dairy Farmers of America, Inc.  W&W Dairy is a leading producer of private-label dairy products that serve the high-growth Hispanic cheese market.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Main Street acquired W&W Dairy in April of 2018 from its three founding partners.  “When we acquired the Company, it was a fundamentally sound business with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Monroe, Wisconsin,” said Dennis Prado, a Managing Partner at Main Street.  “We saw an opportunity to professionalize the management team, upgrade systems, processes and controls, and expand the production capacity.”

“We hired a highly experienced management team, led by Franz Hofmeister, W&W’s President and Chief Executive Officer.  Franz did a tremendous job of building a team of A-players to accomplish the key strategic initiatives required to transform the business.  Once the foundation was in place, we focused on growth and several major expansions of the manufacturing capabilities.  The result was strong financial performance and a company that is well positioned to continue to achieve tremendous growth,” said Prado.

“We’re very proud of what our team has been able to accomplish at W&W Dairy with Main Street as our financial partner,” said Franz Hofmeister.  “Main Street supported us as we transformed the company from a family-owned business to a professionally managed organization.  They were patient partners and together we were able to double the size of the business and triple the earnings.”

“Our past experiences in food manufacturing, and more specifically in the dairy industry, helped us to recognize the potential at W&W Dairy,” said Ryan Davis, a Partner at Main Street.  “We’re proud of our ability to work effectively with management to quickly identify and execute on the key initiatives required to grow the business.  We invested capital to support future growth, upgraded the level of talent across the organization, and we created a lot of new jobs.  The exit resulted in a very nice outcome for Main Street, our investors, and the W&W management team.”
